One can only conclude that Charles has 0 basic qualifications and training and instead is just using his “experience” - as dog training is an unrelated industry. I’m aware of several dog trainers locally who take on dogs that have had unhelpful ‘training’ from this man. I have also asked him directly what qualifications he has and if he has any, suggested they are listed on his website. I have witnessed other concerned owners do the same - he dodges and doesn’t answer the question every time! I know of several (at least 3/4) dogs which have had their behavioural issues worsen after his advice, which left them to be nervous and scared when even his name mentioned, or owners used command words that were advised by him. At least one of these dogs has now been PTS as a result of his poor advice. Please please, if you consider yourself a dog lover - do not go to this man! Go to a reputable dog trainer who is happy to show evidence of the studying they have undertaken in order to understand the basics of dog biology, development, cognition and behaviour. There are plenty about. I found Charles while desperately scrolling on google trying to find someone who would help with my dogs separation anxiety issues. He came to my home to assess my dog and I, and came up with solutions very fast. He spent a long time here explaining what’s been going wrong and what I’ve been doing right. Charles has come to our rescue on a number of occasions now. We have an extremely energetic and over excitable puppy. The first time we reached out to Charles we were really struggling with walking. Our puppy was a big puller, and had grown so much and gotten so strong that I had ended several walks in floods of tears having been dragged around (to the point of having to run after our pup as he’s so strong!). Charles managed to come out to us very quickly, and since that one session on lead walking, walking has become such a joy. Our puppy now walks really nicely by my side. It is such a relief to now be able to enjoy our walks. We called Charles out again more recently as we hit the teenager phase - hard!!! Excessive jumping, testing all our boundaries and just generally chaotic behaviour were becoming another really big problem. Again, Charles managed to get out to us within a couple of days to see what was going on. Charles stayed with us for some time to assess our puppy, and gave us lots of practical advice of things to try, which seem to be working so far. On both occasions he followed up his visits with written notes, links to useful videos to watch and the reassurance that he was only a phone call away.
